Founded in 2024, DataSure is dedicated to helping South African small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) strengthen their information security and data privacy practices. Hi, I’m Wendy
I have spent many years in various leadership positions across digital publishing and software development.
During my time as the Digital Publishing Manager at a prominent publishing company in Cape Town, I worked on a variety of process improvement and product development projects. As part of the law publishing team, I worked extensively on investigating and development of compliance tools and related products. It was during this time, that my interest in risk and compliance was piqued, but only later that it came more to the fore.
I spent the next 10 years, 6 in an executive capacity, at a software development company in Cape Town. As the Chief Operations Officer, my responsibilities included all risk and compliance aspects for the company. I was also integral to ensuring that information security and data privacy best practices were implemented for the products that the company built for its customers.
In 2023, I led the project that saw the company gain their ISO/IEC 27001:2022 certification within 6 months. For the next year, I chaired the Information Security Council at the company, handled internal audits and led a cross-functional team in pursuit of continuous improvement. Under my guidance, the company successfully passed their first surveillance audit, without any non-conformities, in 2024.
Since starting DataSure, late in 2024, I have gained extensive expertise in the area of implementation, internal audit and lead audit for the ISO/IEC 27001:2022 standard. In March 2025, I was awarded the qualification ISO/IEC 27001:2022 Lead Auditor Practitioner with the BSI Training Academy and registered as an ISMS Associate Auditor with IRCA.
